Kiwi botanically known as Actinidia deliciosa belongs to the family Actinidiaceae. It is a strong-growing perennial twining vine with small leaves and bright red stems and is popularly known by its shortened version as ‘kiwi’. The kiwi can grow 40 feet in length. Most kiwi plants are dioecious; that is, they bear either male or female flowers, but not both. It needs one male plant per every 10 female plants. It is a high Source of Vitamin C, Sleep Inducer, a Good Source of Dietary Fibre, which Helps in Digestion. It has a fibrous, dull greenish-brown skin and bright green or golden flesh with rows of tiny, black, edible seeds. The Hayward Kiwi is the main green variety produced for the world’s markets and dominates production in most growing areas. It is moderately hairy and more rounded than other kiwi varieties.
