Description

Ipomoea Black heart vine is a compact, warm weather annual and in cooler climate it is perennial, and is commonly known as the sweet potato vine plantIpomoea grows best in moist, fertile, well-drained soil, and it need full to partial sun. Ipomoeas also make great annual groundcovers in the landscape. They love the heat and humidity cooler temperatures and low humidity cause them to stay more compact. You can grow them whether in hanging basket, pot, also directly in the ground. But always remember the scorching sun can cause the leaf burn, so protect the plant if temperature is above 35 degree celsius. As it is from the same family of sweet potato it's tuber is not edible because it doesn't have any sugar content and mainly grown for its foliage purpose.

Sunlight - Full Sunlight (<6hrs) to Partial shade

Water - Always Maintain the moisture in the soil. Water it when the leaves look dull.

Fertilizer - Apply any organic fertilizer once in 2 month.

Repotting - Once in 2yrs as it have tubers, you can multiply it.

INITIAL CARE FOR 10-15 DAYS JUST AFTER RECEIVING YOUR PLANT 

  1. Remove the Packaging Materials carefully.
  2. Press the soil in the pot & add additional soil(garden mix) if necessary.
  3. Maintain moisture in the pot, Do not over water it may kill your plant, so make sure that the soil should be dry between watering.
  4. Make sure that plants get enough morning direct bright light(2-3hrs) for 10-15 days & do not go for immediate transplanting (minimum 1 month)
  5. After 1 month you can transplant it into slightly bigger pot than the present pot or you can remain in the same pot for 6-7 month.
  6. Just prune if any branch of the plant is get damaged in transits. New leaves will come definitely.
